Ever tried a natural anti-mosquito spray that smells divine and actually works? Today I am sharing a great and effective recipe to keep those bug away all summer long!
DIY Effective Anti-Mosquito Spray
Conventional anti-mosquito products are filled with DEET (N, N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide), an insect repellent that smells so bad it literally keeps the bugs away. Unlike them, this spray is more gentle on the skin, and it will leave you smelling divine and feeling refreshed, which is what we all want during summer, don’t you think?
This easy DIY also contains witch hazel which has great anti-inflammatory and anti-irritation properties. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 69% Distilled water: 20.4 g/0.72 oz
- 20% Witch hazel (with alcohol): 6 g/0.21 oz
- 10% Glycerin: 3 g/0.10 oz
- 1% Essential oils: 0.3 g/0.010 oz
- 1% Preservative: 0.3 g/0.010 oz
- Makes 30 g/1.05 oz
The preservative amount depends on the preservative you use; I used Phenoxyethanol & Ethylhexylglycerin as it's a clear, odourless preservative. Download this free preservatives guide!
If you don't have a preservative, store it in the fridge!
Some essential oils recommendations (feel free to pick your favorite!):
- lavender
- thyme
- sage essential oil
- rosemary
- peppermint
- citronella
- lemongrass
- rose geranium
- bergamot
- cedarwood
- eucalyptus essential oil
- tea tree
- vetiver essential oil
- patchouli
- lemon eucalyptus
- clove
Procedure
Add all the ingredients to a clean spray bottle and shake well! That’s all, super easy.
Spray this all-natural DIY anti-mosquito spray on to keep the bugs away the natural way.
